A Few Fun Things...

Yay! I've finished a project for the Fall Cable Kaland the Tweeding Along KAL. I am ignoring the fact that this is a subsitute project for both an FO is an FO, right?
Done in stash Cleckheaton 12-ply silk/wool on, circular 4.00mm Addis, and all on the bus on my way to school each day. I still have tons of this yarn left, with plans for a hat and gauntlets to match.

Something really cool - for a person who rarely wins things;
Mama E ran a contest for photos of Fo's using her handpainted yarn.
Check out the wonderful finalists:
And look!:
The photo is a joint effort by myself and DD - thanks DD! So I've won a custom dyed, custom named skein of Mama E's wonderful wool - I'm already a fan, so I'm pretty excited. It was done as a header to a new sock pattern I hope to have available shortly, still working on publishing to the web.

I wrote two exams this week…

Have found time for a little knitting... I'm hoping to have these KAL's finished before the end of the year - ha! The Irish Hiking scarf needs one more skein to make a nice length and with one more week of bus trips, it'll make my deadline. The "second socks" are already further along

The final countdown to Christmas and as of yesterday, my gift shopping is done (except for that one thing, you know the one, you remember it around the time the stores are closing Christmas Eve...). My last exam of the year is this Wednesday, Real estate law and then a nice long break before starting my placement in January.

There is still not a flake of snow where I'm at. I don't mind, I really don't like the ferocious temperatures we sometimes get here, but a little dusting to make things pretty would be really welcome. Not to mention, what will I do with the scarves I've been knitting :)?

From last week: my latest book acquistions and some KnitPicks Options circulars…

Thursdays Are For - Sock Seduction and Yarn P0rn!

Finally time to show off my "Pick Up Sticks" sock club kits. Every month, we get an original pattern and some wonderful sock yarn. Left is the first kit, with Claudia Handpaints in "Just Plum". The second kit is shown below.

I had to cry "Uncle" with the Fall Cable KALand the Tweeding Along KAL- as usual, my eyes are bigger than my belly, when it comes to joining knit-a-longs. So, with my tweed replacement yarn coming late and having fallen out of love with my Diagonal Progression sweater (I've made it before - maybe that's why), I've decided that the "Irish Hiking Scarf" in stashed Cleckheaton Silky Wool 12-ply, will be my redeemer of knitting dignity, and means I can put paid to both KAL's. I will undoubtly finish the other items soon, just because the pressure is off :).

I've been plugging away at setting up a gallery for me and for reader FO's (I hope no one will be too shy to share them) and that's been interestin…
